What is Peruvian Maca?

Maca is  a caffeine-free, plant-based superfood that grows in central Peru. Maca looks similar to radishes or turnips and the roots can be various colours such as yellow, purple, or black. This versatile adaptogenic herb helps the body adapt and deal with different stressors so you can live a well-balanced life, and it’s safe and easy to use in your everyday routine.

We source organic peruvian Maca from local superfood legends Soaring Free Superfoods, who deal directly with the suppliers in Peru.

Maca has great health benefits but it also has some flavour benefits. It adds a lovely maltiness to the chocolate – it gives our Oat Mylk chocolate a slightly softer warming flavour. There is also a bit of texture in the chocolate from the maca, but we love the feeling.

We’re celebrating the launch of our new Pervian maca slab made with 54% dark mylk chocolate adorned with Cape Town artist Amy-Lee Tak’s iconic wrapper design, by offering a limited number of signed prints and NFTs of the artwork for the first time! 

The slab will be launch between 15 March – 22 March
